Gaia Girls fans, this one’s for you. Meet author Lee Welles as she presents a sneak preview of her forthcoming book, “Gaia Girls Air Apparent,” the third installment in the award-winning Gaia Girls series. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is pleased to host this VIP party celebrating the spirit of Gaia with live music, refreshments, environmental activities and more--all in honor of Welles’ newest Gaia Girls eco-adventure. Welles worked closely with the Lab of Ornithology in researching “Air Apparent,” using the lab’s vast resources to help paint the story’s Peruvian setting with sights, sounds, animal life and climate details from the country’s rainforests to Andean peaks. Along with a preview of the new book and book signings, you’ll enjoy live music from Birds-on-a-Wire, field journaling with Gaia Girls illustrators Ann Hameister and Carol Coogan, sustainability activities from Earth Arts, Gaia-themed refreshments, tours of lab and self-guided walks through the adjacent Sapsucker Woods nature preserve. Space is limited, advance reservations recommended by calling (607) 254-2473. For lab info and directions, visit: birds.cornell.edu.
