Ithaca's Winter Recess celebrates public school teachers with entertainment, activities, family fun and discounts throughout the community. Last year, more than 1,300 educators and their families took part in the celebration. It was America's first citywide festival for state public school teachers and 2008 will be even better.
During Winter Recess, Ithaca opens its doors to the pre-K-12 community, offering you a chance to relax, refresh and renew among friends in a city built on education. You'll discover a discounted week of outdoor recreation, indoor relaxation and entertaining education. We've put the whole city on sale, just for you.
Winter Recess is open to teachers, district employees and their guests. Bring your school ID, your union membership, or a note from your principal and you're in. That's it. When you arrive, your VIP pass—rather, your "VIT" (Very Important Teacher) Pass—will be waiting. It's your key to the city, unlocking a packed calendar of daily activities. Enjoy communitywide discounts on just about everything: lodging, dining, shopping, entertainment—the works. Come for the day or for the week. Invite your friends, family, or a group of coworkers. Just kick back, relax and enjoy your stay.
